This event is supported by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Red Balloon Bookshop, in partnership with the Saint Paul Public Library, invites you to an incredible afternoon with Laurie Halse Anderson, one of the most acclaimed authors of young adult literature!
Join us on Sunday, Jan 12, 4:00 pm, at the Harriet Island Pavilion, as Anderson tours for her newest work, The Impossible Knife of Memory. Based on her own childhood experience with a father who suffered from PTSD, Anderson writes a compelling story of a single father who returns from the Iraq War with deep emotional wounds, and the daughter who wishes she could heal him.
“As in Speak, Anderson provides a riveting study of a psychologically scarred teenager… absorbing.”
- Publishers Weekly, starred review
“Compelling, powerful and timely…This is challenging material, but in Anderson’s skilled hands, readers will find a light shining on the shadowy reality of living with someone who has lived through war.”
- Booklist, starred review
